I got a new iPhone—what do I do?

Reinstall SmishAlert, restore your subscription, and turn protection back on.

If you already had SmishAlert on another iPhone and you've set up a new one (or restored from backup), follow these steps to get protection working again.

Step 1: Install the app

Download SmishAlert from the App Store on your new iPhone. Use the same Apple ID you used when you first subscribed.

Step 2: Restore your subscription

If you had a paid subscription, you don't need to pay again. Open SmishAlert and look for an option like "Restore purchases" or "Restore subscription" (often in the app's settings or subscription screen). Your subscription will restore as long as it's still active on your Apple ID. For more detail, see Restore your subscription on a new device in Subscriptions & Billing.

Step 3: Turn on filtering and reporting again

On your new phone, go to Settings → Messages → Unknown & Spam and select SmishAlert for filtering. Then go to Settings → Phone → SMS/Call Reporting and select SmishAlert. That's it—protection is back on.
