How do I know SmishAlert is working?
Simple ways to tell that protection is on and what you might notice.
On iPhone, SmishAlert runs quietly in the background once message filtering is on and you are signed in. Personal does not require a purchase. On Android, confirm you're signed in and check Alerts for analyzed reports. See Getting started with SmishAlert on Android.
What you might notice
- Fewer suspicious or junk messages in your main Messages inbox (they may be filtered to a separate list).
- When you open the SmishAlert app, you can see a summary of protection activity (what was filtered or analyzed).
- If you report a message (Share or Messages extension), you'll get a result like Clean, Suspicious, or High risk.
Double-check it's on (iPhone)
Go to Settings → Apps → Messages → Unknown & Spam and make sure Filter Unknown Senders is on and SmishAlert is selected under SMS Filtering. On older iOS this is Settings → Messages → Unknown & Spam → Text Message Filtering. Then open the SmishAlert app. If something still seems wrong, see Message filtering not working in Troubleshooting.
